Meet John! John has spent over 50 years living in Winter Park, FL, where he has been involved in a wide array of organizations including the Orange County Charter Commission, Winter Park High School Foundation, St. Margaret Mary Pastoral Council, Upward Basketball, the Winter Park History Museum Board, and more . Growing up, he was an avid basketball player and remembers his love of the local Rollins vs. UCF (FTU) rivalry. After matriculating through the OCPS system, John attended Florida State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, specifically in Real Estate. John and his wife, Lucia, love spending time with their 3 adult daughters (two of which are raising their families in the same neighborhood he grew up in) and 5 grandchildren. John also enjoys cooking for and with his family and going for long walks around the neighborhood.
John brings a myriad of real estate expertise to Miller Grant & Co. His first job out of college was a 10 year tenure at the Orange County Property Appraiser’s office. He went on to provide consulting services at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and has worked for the last 20 years at Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp. In addition to his Real Estate Broker’s license, he is a licensed General Real Estate Appraiser in the state of Florida.
John’s favorite real estate transaction to date was the purchase of an oceanfront condo in Cocoa Beach, which he and his family enjoyed for a decade. His favorite spot at his Winter Park home is the brick outdoor patio, where he and Lucia frequently watch the sun set over Lake Berry. John is a proven leader who is excited to provide a trustworthy, dedicated, collaborative, team approach for your real estate experience.
Meet Ellen! Ellen Hencken was born in Chicago, IL and graduated with a Nursing degree from the University of Iowa. She actually met her husband, Gray, a native Floridian, in 1993 while visiting a friend in Central Florida during spring break. They got engaged exactly one year to the date that they met on the Rollins College dock on Lake Virginia. They moved to Winter Park in 2000 and have been residents and involved community members ever since. Ellen worked for the VA in the Nursing Home Care Unit for several years before making the decision to stay home with their young children, who are now 16, 17, and 21. When Ellen isn’t getting someone to or from tennis practice or school, she loves spending time at the beach (her happy place!) -- especially New Smyrna or anywhere in the Keys.
Ellen has extensive real estate experience on both the buying and selling sides over the last 20 years. She and Gray have pursued numerous investment properties and are property managers, which gives Ellen excellent insight into the rental markets and investment opportunities in the area. Additionally, Ellen’s background in nursing and care make her one of the most empathetic, understanding people you’ll ever meet. Ellen will feel like family just minutes after meeting her. She laughs thinking about her first home in Winter Park, which Gray purchased before she’d even seen it. That was her entrance into Central Florida real estate and she’s never looked back! In their current “bamboo oasis”, Ellen says that her favorite spot is their deck. Though their house is small, the deck extends their living space out over their backyard and toward the lake; that view of the sunset cannot be beat!
Ellen's Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation (SRES) through the National Association of Realtors gives her the expertise needed to support 50+ clients with their financial and lifestyle transitions!
Meet Courtney! Courtney Pelfrey was born and raised in Winter Park, FL and moved back "home" with her growing family in 2019 after spending a few years in beautiful Virginia. They have three kids: a 5 year old, a 23year old, and a 1 year old. Courtney has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Master’s degree in Education from William & Mary. Prior to full-time real estate, she worked in collegiate Career Services and enjoys coaching students through the process of identifying their interests and skills, learning about professional opportunities, and refining their job search skills. Courtney puts these coaching skills to work for her clients daily and loves to create informative, educational materials and tools to assist buyers and sellers.
Outside of work, Courtney loves to travel , organize and reorganize their home, and spend as much quality time as possible with the kids (lots of backyard play time and stroller walks). Her favorite ways to relax are reading and sipping on chai tea lattes.
The chance to take stress and anxiety out of the home buying or selling process for other people and their families is both exciting and motivating for Courtney and her strong attention to detail makes her an excellent advocate and resource for any client. As a seasoned homebuyer (and seller) herself, Courtney is eager to share her experience and real estate education with others who want to learn more about the “how” and “why” and “what” behind-the-scenes. Courtney’s favorite location at her own house is their open-concept kitchen and living room. They started from scratch with that space when they moved in and created a large room for playing, snacking, and lots of laughing.
Meet Kailey! Kailey Sexton was born and raised in Winter Park, FL and ventured out of town long enough to earn her degree in Apparel Design and Production Management from Auburn University, where she met her husband, Corey. They moved back to Central Florida when they got married to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors in the custom printing industry and to start a family! Kailey has a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter.
Thanks to Kailey’s lifelong love of all things beautiful and creative, including a background in bridal design and retail, she’s our resident staging expert and will happily create a custom staging plan for any of our MG & Co. clients! Additionally, Kailey has worked in professional event planning and cannot wait to continue creating personalized experiences and meaningful interactions. When she’s not chasing her son, Kailey adores baking, family walks, and ongoing home renovations. She says that her special talent is keeping fake plants alive!
Kailey and Corey purchased their Winter Park home in 2019 and have enjoyed the process of turning that house into their family home one project at a time. They love to dream about the potential that each property in Central Florida has. In her own home, Kailey’s favorite spot is the open-concept living space. She describes it as neutral and quirky and appreciates that it allows folks to gather centrally.
Meet Kim! Kim was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. She is a graduate of Florida State University, with a degree in communications, and absolutely LOVES her Noles football! She has
been married to her husband, Matt, for 22 years but they have actually known each other their entire lives! Together they have two daughters, Maddie, (19), Meredith (16), and golden doodle Bentley (2). Maddie attends the University of Florida (blood is thicker than an alma mater, but Kim still winces at wearing Orange and Blue, but will do it for her daughter, and ONLY when they aren’t playing the Noles!) and Meredith is a junior at Winter Park High School.
Prior to having children, and joining the real estate world, Kim worked in several different lines of work. Kim has experience in sales, marketing, and working with high school children through a non-profit organization, providing weekend events and volunteer opportunities for students.
However, being a stay at home mom for 19 years has been her greatest joy, accomplishment
and line of work. Kim’s love for interior decorating while watching her husband work in real estate, flipping and
building houses is what inspired her to join the real estate industry. She has learned a lot from her husband over these past 22 years and decided to bring her sales, marketing, and communication experience to the real estate realm and now has joined forces with Miller Grant
and Company!
Kim also has a deep faith and is committed to helping others grow theirs. She has opened her home to lead both teenage and adult Bible studies, and now serves as a group leader with Bible
Study Fellowship. In her free time, Kim loves quality time with her family and friends. She loves playing games,
listening to music, dancing, singing karaoke, going to concerts, playing ping pong, tennis, pickle ball, or really anything that resembles a party! She also enjoys being active by running,
spinning, swimming, or anything competitive. Her favorite places to travel are any places by the sea. She loves to snorkel, so the Bahamas and the keys are two of her favs! She typically
starts her day with Jesus, and a good cup of coffee, walks through the day with Jesus and water (or a diet coke topped off with root beer), and ends her day with Jesus, wine, or green tea.
Meet Grant! Grant was a beloved chocolate lab and family member to John and Lucia Miller. He joined their family in 2004 and lived a life full of neighborhood strolls, beach trips, and couch naps. Grant was a loyal companion and a trustworthy fur-sibling. He was so much more than a pet.
As a team, we strive to bring you the service, dedication, and family orientation that a sweet lab like Grant brought to our family for a decade.
Broker was born in early 2023 and joined the Miller family when he was 8 weeks old! Hoping to follow in his predecessor, Grant's, paw-steps, Broker loves chewing, long walks, and attention from anyone and everyone. Catch him out and about more often this fall!
